Meet Rummy, one of the Therapy Dog helping patients at St Andrews.
The therapy dogs, and owner Ann, have begun regular visits to St Andrews, where they are proving a big hit with patients and staff.
They visit once a week and offer Comfort, Happiness and Emotional Wellbeing. Many patients staying at the centres are dog owners themselves, or work with them, so enjoy this opportunity to stroke, spend some time with and talk to one of these calm and friendly dogs. Medical studies have shown that pets can lower stress and anxiety, improve vital signs and reduce loneliness and depression.
Rummy is just one of several leonbergers Ann owns. All her dogs have to pass temperament & suitability tests to ensure they are suitable to be therapy dogs.
