A wide range of fitness, wellbeing, strength and mobility classes are held at the Police Treatment Centres. The classes are mostly taught by our physiotherapists and fitness instructors with some classes taught by outside specialist instructors e.g. Tai Chi and Yoga
Patients often take part in specific classes as directed by their physiotherapist in line with their rehabilitation programme. However where suitable and available, individuals can take part in a range of other classes that may appeal or help with other needs such as relaxation.
Classes are available to both physio and psychological wellbeing patients, it is important however for officers to follow the guidance given in respect of class attendance.
The Charity tries to offer a variety of activities to meet individual needs and some of our instructors have specialist knowledge in certain areas. As such slight variations in the classes offered at the two centres may be seen.
Classes available include:
The above exercises are the basis of a treatment programme for patients attending the Treatment Centres. The exercises have been designed to cover a range of abilities and it is important that you work at an appropriate level for your own condition and fitness. It is recommended that you consult a Chartered Physiotherapist or your GP before embarking on any new fitness regime and if you do experience any pain or discomfort whilst performing these exercises then stop immediately and speak to a health professional.
By making a monthly donation, the PTC can support YOU during difficult times. Your donation gives you access to free, expert, police-specific treatment, at one of our 2 centres, regardless of whether your injury occurred on or off duty.
If you are a serving or retired police officer and have suffered an injury or illness, our experienced and fully qualified staff may be able to assist you.
We are a registered charity funded almost entirely by donations from serving officers and members of the public. We need your support.
