The PTC teamed up with RTB SPORTIVES to organise an exciting new event for 2017, supporting The Police Treatment Centres and to promote health & wellbeing.
The Back on the Beat Cycle Sportive offered two routes, a 50km intermediate route and a 99.9km challenging route for the more experienced riders. Both routes started and finished at The Police Treatment Centres, St Andrews in Harrogate.
Over 180 riders took part in both routes on the day, and through doing so, raised a staggering £13,407.61!
"It was a great challenging ride, the weather was brilliant, and it's been a great day." (Cleveland's Chief Constable, Iain Spittal)
Sir Gary Verity, Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, supported the event on the day by talking to cyclists before the ride began and participating in the 50km route himself. The PTC was delighted to welcome Sir Gary to the PTC and for his attendance in their first ever sportive.
"This is a fantastic charity that we are supporting and a great facility for the men and women of the police force that do such a great job." (Sir Gary Verity)
A big thank you to everyone that took park today, all our fantastic volunteers who helped it all run smoothly, and especially Pete Oram at England Police Rugby Union & RTB Sportives for their hard work in the lead up & today to make it all possible!
"It has exceeded expectations! We are very grateful for everyone's participation to make it the success it has been today." (PTC's CEO, Patrick Cairns)
