When attending the Police Treatment Centres on the Psychological Wellbeing Programme, you can expect to take part in the following classes and workshops.
A group workshop will take place each day covering such subjects as stress awareness, coping strategies, sleeping problems and mindfulness.
A group exercise class will also be offered each day and all officers will be given an induction session to familiarise themselves with the gym equipment available.
The exercise classes are suitable for all levels of fitness and will comprise such activities as Tai Chi, Yoga, swimming or walking.
"The Health and Wellbeing Programme has helped my personal situation greatly. I have had the opportunity to try treatments that would not have considered, yet I found them extremely helpful."
Rehab Gym and Additional Classes
As well as the pre-determined classes as part of the Psychological Wellbeing programme, patients are welcome to take part in the general fitness classes that run alongside the physiotherapy programme, as capacity and time allows.
Each Treatment Centre has excellent resources within its gymnasium with top of the range machines and exercise equipment. Both gyms have recently been refurbished with brand new equipment including state of the art Alter-G treadmills at St Andrews and an indoor cycling studio at both centres.
Patients can access the gym under their own steam or as part of a programme designed by the fitness instructors.
The fitness instructors can provide assistance with:
- Designing a tailored exercise programme to meet individual requirements
- Bleep Tests
- Nutritional advice
Mountain bikes are also available from each of our two Treatment Centres for outdoor exercise.
