This week we were pleased to welcome Claire Long and Helen Blackshaw from Police Mutual Foundation. Last year The Police Mutual Foundation generously made a donation of £30,000 to support the work of our two patient advisors, Terry O'Neill and Des Gale.
A listening ear; help identifying and clarifying underlying issues; sign posting available support; providing reassurance and appropriate advice; time to talk and look at problems in a different way; helping provide a clear plan of a way forward which helps to resolve a patients issues and helping patients to find answers.
These are just some of the types of support that the Police Mutual Foundation has helped the Police Treatment Centres to provide, making a difference to more than 600 serving and retired police officers. Our research has shown that patients receiving the support funded by Police Mutual Foundation feel more than 50% better when they leave our centres. Thank you for helping us to improve the health and wellbeing of these patients by funding over 1600 hours of support from our patient advisors.
During their visit, Patrick Cairns was able to bring Claire and Helen up to date and discuss our plans for the future. We look forward to working with the Foundation in the future to further develop our treatment.
