On Sunday 3rd November 2019 PC Laura Sayer of Police Scotland will be running in the New York Marathon in aid of The Police Treatment Centres.
In June 2018 Laura and a colleague were both seriously injured on duty in a stabbing. Laura was only five months into the job at the time. As a result of the stab wound to her upper arm, which severed the sensory nerve, she is still left with a lot of pain and numbness in her arm. Laura has attended the Police Treatment Centre in Auchterarder on two occasions as part of her rehabilitation.
On deciding to run the New York Marathon in aid of the PTC, Laura said, “Deciding to run the New York Marathon to raise money for the PTC was an easy decision, I can’t think of a cause more worthy. The work they do to help serving and retired officers is amazing and the staff are fantastic.”
Laura has already raised well over £2000 but you can still sponsor her by visiting her GoFundMe page here:

We wish Laura every success and the best of luck for the marathon on the 3rd November. She really is a Fundraising Hero.
You don’t have to have to be a police officer to be a PTC Fundraising Hero though. One of our other recent Heroes is 8 year old Finley Cornfield who took part in the Mini Great North Run earlier this month, raising funds for The Police Treatment Centres and Teeside Hospice. Finley’s mother is an officer with Durham Constabulary who has benefitted from the services of the PTC and wanted to raise funds for the charity along with another cause he felt passionate about.
Finley’s fundraising page is still open if you want to support him. Just click the link below:

Thank you, Finley for doing such a fantastic thing for two worthy charities. You are a true Fundraising Hero.
